Gorito the gorilla is three years old and destined to inherit the primate kingdom from Gajee, his father. But he is kidnapped by Okada, Gajee's arch-enemy and Godfather to the snakes, and only escapes with help from a friendly cobra. Ten years roll by. Gajee is assassinated, and Gorito matures into a strong yet gentle silverback gorilla. Once Gorito becomes Godfather he wisely and fairly resolves a dispute between the baboons and the gorillas, which shows that he is not a replica of his father. Love blossoms as Gorito falls in love with Sisiwe, his childhood friend, but he misunderstands her closeness to his cousin Donny and spurns her. Donny regards the primate kingdom as his by birthright, and secretly allies himself with Okada to plan Gorito's downfall. Unaware of the plot against him, Gorito swings through the vibrant tropical rainforest towards a deathly reunion with his old enemy.
