Kyriakos Sorokkou studied English Language and Literature at the European University Cyprus where he staged his first play within the University's Drama Club. He also won 2 creative writing competitions at the same University, one in 2009 with the title "Soil, Soul, and Blood", and one in 2012 with the title "Two Bullets and A Dry Martini". He is currently studying Playwriting at the University of Salford. Eight Birds and Other Poems is the second collection of poetry by Kyriakos Sorokkou. Eight Birds is a long poem written in the style of T. S. Eliot's "The Waste Land", It's a poem about migration; It talks about the poet's inner fight, and his dilemmas on what is wiser to do: migrate and succeed or stay in your country and fail?
