Il 6 settembre del 1620, dal porto inglese di Plymouth, salpava il galeone Mayflower con a bordo un centinaio di puritani, autentico fumo negli occhi per la Chiesa Anglicana. Dopo due mesi di navigazione arrivarono a Cape Cod bay, nell'odierno Massachusetts, dando vita alla prima colonia inglese nel Nord America. Difatti da tale piccola comunita sarebbe poi nata la Confederazione degli Stati Uniti d'America. Ma e triste constatare come la storia si ripeta, discriminati in patria, i coloni non esitarono a discriminare i nativi che in due secoli, da 16 milioni che erano in quel tempo, scomparvero.
