You have in your hand the magnus opus of Dr. Walter Grundmann, professor of Theology at the University of Jena, Die Geschichte Jesu Christi - The Story of Jesus Christ. Building upon his earlier works, Jesus, der Galilaeer, und das Judentum - Jesus the Galilean and Judaism and Wer ist Jesus von Nazareth? -Who is Jesus of Nazareth?, Dr. Grundmann continued his research into the life and times of Jesus following the World War. This work is book about Jesus which includes the newest findings from the Dead Sea Scrolls at the time of writing. Students of the Bible tend to know very little about the mileau in which Jesus was born, lived, worked and died. Who were the "poor", who were the Anawim, the "righteous" and the "sons of light"? It is all glossed over to get to the controversy between the Scribes, Pharisees and Saducees with Jesus. But Jesus did not live in a vacuum; he was born into a particular people, lived and died within their community. Jesus was not a religious reformer. His teachings overthrew the pious religiosity of the Scribes and Pharisees, which they had developed over the years, and replaced it with a true message from God which was universal in nature and which valued those whom the Pharisees hated and cursed among society. This is His story.
