Arlington, Massachusetts boasts a wide range of poets. Many residents of all ages have been putting their souls into words over the decades. The current anthology proudly showcases some of the marvelous talent in our town. Arlington had joined towns around Massachusetts to organize for and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the 1775 conflict, called the Battles of Lexington and Concord, that is generally considered to have started the American revolution. As part of the 250 celebration, Arlington poet laureate Jean Flanagan decided that Arlington should assemble an anthology that would highlight the impressive poetic talent in town. Under the auspices of Arts Arlington and enjoying the generous help of Ibbetson Street Press, we pulled the present volume together. The resulting anthology features 55 current poets and 6 who lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some authors have many publications under their belts; others are published here for the first time.
