Emit Smith is an irregularity in the system of human beings. He came from nowhere and no one knows anything about parents. Eventually, after three years of work, he finishes his experiment with some mysterious assistance along the way. The wormhole seems dangerous and the headmaster comes with Victoria to deactivate it, but instead Victoria and Emit accidentally get sent through it. Then the gateway seals itself leaving no way there or back. Trapped, they have to find a way back while dealing with Emit's lust for power and possible insanity.
