Jeff Ridge doesn’t know who he is, where he is, or why he can’t remember much of any relevance-which may or may not be a good thing, when you consider his current predicament generally involves flames, sirens, and his own frozen leg. Centuries into the future [or possibly less, depending on whenever you happen to be reading this blurb], the trans-stellar transport tug ‘Chione’ is on a daring mission to the Sirius twin star system, for some reason. Hurtling towards Destiny faster than a bungee jumper without a knot, catastrophe naturally awaits its intrepid crew upon arrival, or thereabouts. With this being a book and all, you can expect at least some of the main characters to die, but the rest should be absolutely fine, come the last few pages, or so. I’d say, by Chapter Eleven, tops. Alone / Together marks director-layabout, Rich Lawden’s third attempt at writing, and also his first novella, so try not to expect too much for your money.
