Helen Wingate's second book could just as easily have been her first .It covers the period of the first two years of marriage, spent in National Service during the years 1956-58. The progress of their lives was at a complete standstill during these two years, being transplanted, between the ages of 21 to 23yrs, far from their preferred location and circumstances, just when they should have been experiencing normal life skills. Simply wishing to start their lives together, not hundreds of miles apart, they jumped at the chance of using the 'Living Out' system available to married couples. Some dramatic, traumatic and even tragic, as well as boring, ups and downs during this time, formed them into the people they later became.
