This is a story about Anna and Sophie, two women who leave their grey lives behind in search of some colour. They set up home on a remote Greek island and indulge their passions; Anna for writing, Sophie for sewing, and both for cats. Soon the reality of their new life becomes entangled with Anna's fictional characters together with the wild imagination of the islanders, and a patchwork emerges of love, friendship, mermaids, monsters, and witches, all held together by the bond between Anna and Sophie. Is their bond strong enough to hold?
