Descriptive narrative of the war in Italy in 1859 from April to August of that year. The author states \“it is a carefully-drawn picture of the Campaign as it presents itself to the mind of the author now, when he has had opportunity to revisit the principle scenes of action and to control his own impressions by the official accounts on both sides, and by the abundant materials which have been accessible to him since the end of the war.\” Includes 20 lithographs at the end of the text.
