- The work of which the following is a translation, was published in the course of the last year (1862) at Paris. The nature of it will be manifest from the title page. Who Saint-Martin was, appears in a Historic Notice of him and his writings published in 1824 by one of his surviving friends, found in the Preface. Saint-Martin was a learned and profound spiritualist. Baron Kirchberger was a patrician of Berne, in Switzerland, Member of the Grand Council, and of numerous permanent Committees of Government. He may be briefly described as a Christian gentleman and Protestant.
