This book is a narration of the story of Christ from the unique point of view of Mary. While it fills in many historical and cultural details, it also describes, with artistic license, the emotional feelings of Mary and others. It is largely taken from the Gospels, though the author has also drawn from many other sources to fill in historical and cultural details. Mary is introduced to the reader as a young girl, not yet betrothed. She is an unusual child, from a family steeped in Jewish religious and cultural values. While the reader is led through Maryas life, they are also introduced to much of the historical and cultural context of the time. This book engages the reader by immersing them in the time of Christ, and providing an imaginative first-hand account of His life and times.
