Het Land Mijner Vaderen (1902)

In Cherry Lake, a drunken woman awakens from a booze-induced sleep to sounds of a prowler in her attic. Investigating, she meets death head-on. In nearby Hartsville, a young man’s body lies dead in a ditch, while a freak blizzard paralyzes the southern Appalachian Mountain towns, causing the local residents and a troupe of Shakespearean thespians to take refuge at the Corona Hotel. Amid the quirks and conflicts of this group of disgruntled locals and their mixture of temperamental pets, Cassie Ryder and her neighbor, British expatriate Jesse Lankford, set out to help Deputy Perry Gillis investigate the deaths. The amateur sleuths get caught up in a web of lies and deceit that spans the ocean from East Anglia to Hartsville and Cherry Lake, ensnaring the local residents in its vicious trap and leading Cassie to the brink of death.
