This is a story about a boy who wanted to play baseball. He wanted to play every day from sunup to sundown as often as he could. The game of baseball was first introduced to him in his hometown of Chancetown, Illinois. He was only four years old but he learned to love the game immediately. This Illinois boy had accumulated a lot of friends on his block of Seventh Street. Some were young and some were old. Some were even girls. He was devastated when his dad took a job in Texas and his family had to move to Grantson, Texas. There were a lot of new friends to be found in Grantson, but his mind kept going back to Chancetown.
