They prefer to suffer the sweet agony of the relation rather than to abandon it. Autumn Love is shared by both the persona in turn. Each tells the other the anguish and elation being suffered by both; in the process they try in vain to comfort each other. The unfolding embraces despair of convincing passion and trying emotions and even maddening obsession! The narration is poetic and intense, with a captivating pace, preferred by contemporaneous readers, who are always in perpetual haste, yet demand in return a afulfilling, leisurely reada!
