Linda, a newspaper reporter, is sailing on the Chesapeake Bay when a heavy fog comes up and the temperature drops. She abruptly finds herself on the Rhine River in Germany in the 1460s. Her boat collapses and she is taken to a castle where she encounters many obstacles. She is befriended by Stefan and Felicity, and eventually discovers why she is there when Felicity finds a beautiful gold cross and Linda recovers lost time from her early teen years. Her surrogate father gave her the same cross and attempted to rape her. The story moves rapidly, is full of action and suspense and has a surprise ending.
