This is the story of an early American woman warrior and the Indian maiden she loves. The scene is set in North America in the early days of the white man’s influx into the country. Hand Talker and White Bird were raised together as children and fell in love in their early teens. Hand Talker, usually called Talker, was determined to be a warrior and earned the respect of all their people. Later, she became an interpreter between the white man and the Native Americans, all through their lands. History records little of these mysterious women who beat all odds to become respected warriors, but there are some who did achieve this goal.
