It is the year 3299 A.D., and the universe is a very different place. The sun has become a red giant, and the entire solar system has been destroyed with the explosion of Pluto. However, humanity is very much the same. Darek and Kiyoko have a very tempestuous relationship. Being in the Karogen Military, they receive a very important mission: to track and hunt down an enigmatic thief named Hayate. During the mission, they run into a female assassin named Mizuki. Zelgos and Misaki are part of the Spectral race, which has been at war with Karogen for centuries. Zelgos and Misaki are about to graduate from a school where they are learning to use their magic. In order to graduate they must pass a trial. Zel and Misaki must face a terrible beast or die trying. Both planets are soon attacked by an unknown enemy.
