Even as a youth, John feels that he is different from the rest. During the days of the Mods and Rockers, something inside him makes him stand aloof from the crowd, but he cannot and will not attempt to understand why. During his time as an active CND member, he still has problems finding a way. But this is to change; life forces him to understand; paths are chosen for him and because he had not learnt the first time round he is made to relive and learn. From his first encounter with the rough floorboards of a dance floor to the spirit woman Cianne, who follows and guides his life, the lessons are learnt and understood. Finally and violently he realizes that coincidences donat just happen. They are for a reason and finding that reason can take a lifetime.
