When an adopted Chinese girl befriends a stray dog, they begin an adventure that proves to be exciting, dangerous, and inspiring. Malynn learns that the stray, who she names Mei Mei (little sister in Chinese), has been assisting in the escapes of local animal shelter captives. Malynn also becomes an accomplice and encounters a life-threatening situation in the process. Malynn and Mei Mei share a common bondaboth are orphans. Malynn confides in Mei Mei her feelings about being adopted and about the people who love her.
