For eighteen years, Misty Steps has only known the life of an orphan. She dreams that when the time comes for her to be on her own, she will go to the place that she has seen through the window of her dorm room: Cherokee, North Carolina. She is about to discover a new life. Her childhood wishes are no longer fairytales that she tells to the younger ones at the orphanage. She is now living those stories. She quickly learns that this new life is full of evils and dangers that take her on many journeys and battles in a world full of spirits.
