Life becomes unbearable for Sweetie when her young daughter Clementine (Tiny) drowns. Her son, Malcolm, blames himself for Tiny’s death, needs his mother desperately, but in her search for comfort, Sweetie takes to floating in the saltwater pond that claimed dear Tiny’s life and finds little time for him. In his desperate attempt at self-preservation, Malcolm develops ritualistic behaviors. Even Sweetie’s father, Will, begins to slip away. It is the one most unexpected, who comes to the rescue of this loving but deeply wounded family. Her courage and strength spring forth from her spirit, not her limbs. She alone is able to reach Malcolm.
