Along the dark waters of the Mississippi there lies a dark secret, hidden from the people that call the small, sleepy town of Joansville home. Danny, being a misfit, never quite fit in anywhere and soon finds himself whisked away to the middle of nowhere to the small town of Joansville by his mother to escape the horror of an alcoholic father. He soon finds comfort in a new set of friends, Richie and the wild bunch he runs withaand a girl named Jessica. The group soon find themselves caught up in the middle of the dark secret as it unfolds. After seeing something they were never meant to see, now they must race to save Dannyas mom and the world as they try to survive the black summer.
