DaShayne Walker was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She hails from the Robert Taylor Holmes housing projects and DuSable High School. This neighborhood was impoverished, crimeridden, drug- and gang-infested. DaShayne saw no future there. As a result she searched for a better way out and found it in her deep love for God and the Christian faith. By the age of 14, she had really learned God and His arealness and awesomeness.a The older she got and the more circumstances she faced, the more her faith was tested. Life presented itself as a constant hurricane; nevertheless, she has kept the faith. In fact, Ms. Walker is a youth minister and encourages many youth with similar plights. As promised God has never left or forsaken her. She has always had the loving support of her family and will always treasure the people divinely placed in her life called, friends. Against Our Religion addresses issues that make dating as a Christian woman seem so difficult. While it exposes the enemy and his tactics, it also reveals the Power of God manifested in prayer, repentance, friendship and the desire to live a Holy and acceptable life. Though it is fiction and highly embellished, it is loosely based on her life as a single Christian woman trying to remain faithful to the call to teach and live the gospel while in pursuit of a soul mate. The characters, Denise, Mildred, Amanda and Angelica, are childhood friends. They grew up in the same church. They now run the very same youth ministry that helped them to see The Light. A series of events takes place in each one of their lives in their relationships with the men that they have chosen and they find themselves off track. aWhat shall we say then?Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.a
