For years, Stryker lived with the suicide death of an only sibling, a young Army lieutenant whose body was discovered in a mud shack on a remote island in the Philippines. The discovery of an unopened letter indicating an eighteen-year cover-up changes that belief, setting Stryker on a course to avenge the young lieutenantas death. A senior U.S. Senator is assassinated in Bethesda, Maryland. Six months later, a high-ranking Pentagon official is gunned down in Washington, D.C. FBI Special Agent Jake Hunter and his partner, Sully Gilmore, follow leads taking them from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to the rural farmland of central Ohio. As their investigation closes in on the killer, Stryker stalks a third victim: another member of the Washington elite and close friend of the first two victims.
