After stopping to enjoy the view during his leisurly hike down a mountain, our main character realizes that he is now in Heaven. There are others around him, many who have gathered in a clearing below. aWasnat I supposed to walk out of fog-like clouds to see the shimmering, pearly gates of Heaven? I had always imagined being waved in, walking on a street of gold with people who have passed before me on either side clapping. I knew that I would shortly meet Jesus and fall to my knees to worship Him and hope that He would scoop me up, hug me and say, aWelcome home my son.a But that didnat happen. At least not yet.a Although Down the Mountain is based on dreams Bush has had about Heaven, he has woven many Christian principals into the story and discusses salvation, forgiveness and Christian love for one another.
