He is swayed by an old friend to marry the daughter of his enemy for her beauty and the bountiful land that comes with her, but he doesnA[a–a[t want the distraction or burden of a new wife, especially one who tested so much of his control. She believes she is marrying him to protect her people, not just the land they live upon.
