Monasteriorum Germaniae Praecipuorum AC Maxime Illustrium: Centuria Prima (1551)

Set during the late 1970s, a young, overweight teenager named Lea Monroe moves with her dysfunctional parents from suburban Illinois to the rural South to escape the constant harassment and humiliation from her peers at her high school. A few months after her arrival, Lea is beaten to within an inch of her life by unknown assailants, leaving her crippled. The police refuse to investigate the case, so with the aid of her older brother, Mike, Lea overcomes her handicap and returns to Newman, Georgia, where the attack took place. She uses her physical transformation and a false identity to infiltrate the high school to conduct a personal investigation into the attack. Along the way, however, she meets the man of her dreams, Adam Jackson. Very quickly Lea strays off her original path, and now she must choose between justice and love, all without revealing her true identity.
