The assassination of his father forced Angel Gazette into the leadership role of Gang Boss of a branch of the family business in order to protect those loyal to his father. There was bitterness between his uncle and himself because Angel felt sure his Uncle Tony was responsible for his father’s death in order to gain control of the family. Tony’s efforts to take control of the family were fruitless and Angel became one of the biggest bosses in the city. The strong family bond felt by most Italian families continued to tug at each of them and the desire to unite as one family persisted. They both controlled large powerful gangs in Chicago and lived the life of big time gangsters in the lawless days of prohibition.
