Even after many years of research and new treatments, cancer is still the number one killer in the world today. Per NCIas SEER report, it is estimated that 1,444,920 men and women (766,860 men and 678,060 women) were diagnosed with and 559,650 men and women died of cancer of all types in 2007. In the US and around the world, the largest amount of funds is being allocated to cancer research. The very word acancera sounds like a death sentence. Most doctors advise their patients, as well as those who would like to avoid the disease, to change avoidable risk factors, like smoking, follow strict diet and exercise, and avoid excessive amount of exposure to insecticides, radioactive material, etc. The discouraging news, however, is that many doctors will readily admit that although we know how to cure most type of cancers, we have not really pinpointed specific causes for it.
