This is a true story about abuse and how a person can survive many years of it. Jessie is the result of a careless fatheras sexual involvement with a dysfunctional and manipulative woman. Jessieas mother is cruel and combative, and eventually she is placed in a mental facility. When her mother is released, she is granted custody of Jessie, and in a state of acute paranoia, she confines Jessie indoors twenty-four hours a day for months. Later, the turmoil of the teenage years arrives and Jessie indulges in high-risk behavior. Jessie begins a relationship which spirals downward into many years of marital abuse. Jessie becomes a survivor and learns that life can be rewarding despite harsh circumstances. We all have a right to be free of pain and abuse.
