Malaysia Walton was born in Oneida, Tennessee, in 1951. She lived in Tennessee until age five and moved to Akron, Ohio, where she was raised. She was a secretary and aspiring singer. At age 42, she had a stroke, leaving her an incomplete quadriplegic with minimal use of her left middle finger. So, with adaptive equipment, she can type. Wanting to occupy her time constructively, she began writing. Wallflower is her first book, and although the characters are fictional, the facts are real. Itas a story of a girl who had everything but lost it because she had an addiction to alcohol and drugs. Having had to fight her own addiction to alcohol enabled and inspired Malaysia to write this book. Hopefully it will help readers to question themselves about their own addictions.
