NICK HAWK, the hard-nosed private investigator, is back in action. He and his friend, FBI agent Jonathan Cotton, are targets for assassination. While following the clues, his worst nightmare is realized when he witnesses a terrorist attack in a crowded Manhattan restaurant. He suspects the bombing and the attempt on his life are connected. Lois Nisler, the sexy reporter, has set her sights on Nick. She also craves the media limelight and wants an exclusive from him. The trail leads deep into the bowels of Grand Central Terminal, searching abandoned tunnels and unexplored caverns for an elusive enemy. Nick is also informed that Molly Jansen has disappeared. The eleven-year-old is like a daughter to Nick and he is torn between two evils. To make matters worse, he discovers his life is dependent on a defective defibrillator to stop a runaway heart rate.
