Portugal: Old and New (1880)

All Alone is the story of a man, Dan Bender, who through a cataclysm he cannot understand, is left as the apparent lone survivor of that cataclysm. In a world without any other people and no electric power, he finds out through a lone TV set that works, that there may be others in this deserted world. He goes on a lonely, always intriguing trip, to tie up loose ends in his world. Not the least is managing his trip to where that someone or something else may be surviving. Along the way he encounters difficult mountain passes, ruined and deserted cities, and many disappointments. His ingenuity, bravery, and (most of all) his faith in God is tested. Doubts about himself are constant, but his faith that God is leading him never truly wavers despite the many tests.
