Three individuals became friendly as youngsters and remained close to each other. Each of them takes a different direction in life when the Korean War begins. Returning from the Korean War, Harry Rosen joins the Boston Police Force. During his tenure, heroic efforts lead to his promotion to detective. There are many twists and turns in his life. Harry has many personal relationships with women. David Goldman commits numerous bank robberies, which he plans brilliantly. He struggles with his girlfriendas ex-husband, killing him in self-defense. His childhood friend Harry arrests David, but there is no concrete evidence to indict him. Joseph Waldman graduates Harvard Law and enters politics. In the political arena, he climbs the ladder to become the Governor of Massachusetts.
