Growing up in a dying rust belt town, Kyle, son of the town’s only doctor, strikes up an unlikely friendship with Seth, who starts school late because of an illness. Seeing Seth’s rough home life, Kyle takes him under his wing and they remain life-long friends. There’s one problem–Kyle wants to attend college in California, leaving Seth behind. Kyle starts a new life and his former fades. That changes when he receives an invitation to his school reunion. He feels bad–life hasn’t worked out for Seth. Kyle invites him west to start over, assuming Seth will never leave home, but he shows up and settles right in. Soon Kyle notices Seth’s lonely and wants a family. A plan is hatched to secretly fix him up and boost his confidence–it backfires. Kyle watches his world crumble. With some unexpected help he works on getting his life back.
