Claire McNab decides to leave her home in Scotland and find a new life in Nova Scotia. Her boyfriend, Tor Sandison, presses her to stay and marry him. She doesn’t feel sparks when he kisses her and thinks she must look elsewhere for love. Living and working with her brother, Dr. Jim McNab, in his medical clinic gives her a chance to meet other people and explore different lifestyles. Mike Yorke, a ferry boat pilot, falls for Claire as soon as he sees her at a Ceilidh. He ditches his date and tries to attract Claire. She refuses him several times, but he persists and finally she agrees to spend time with him. Do Mike’s kisses feel different from Tor’s? Is he someone she can love? It takes Claire a long time to find where her heart belongs.
