Memoirs and Remains of the Reverend Walter Inglis: African Missionary and Canadian Pastor (1887)

William Cochrane

It is the hope that those who pay little attention to politics will garner from this book an understanding between the choice of bad vs. evil. It is a fictional conversation written so that questions get answered and concepts explained that are fundamental to understanding where we are as a nation and how we got here. In the last three decades, the Republican Party has been taken over by forces far darker than even they had realized. Foreign influences and people with no moral compass, along with good, old-fashioned greed and laziness have taken us to a dangerous precipice. Will Rogers once said, I’m not a member of any organized political party. I’m a Democrat. That is honest because democracy is messy. We debate and argue and compromise. The Republican Party today allows no dissent. It is like a team of mules under one whip. It is they who inspired this book. This is an attempt to answer questions at the level that the uninitiated can follow, but from which the more sophisticated can gain clarity. If any understanding of the depth of the difference between democracy as practiced by the Democrats (bad) and the Republicans (evil) is gained, the millions of real children represented by the fictional ones in this book will have a brighter future.About the AuthorRobert Shanlin was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1957, and at the age of thirteen, led a march across Oceanside, NY, protesting the Vietnam War. He attended Sullivan County Community College, where he was awarded the Outstanding Graduating Marketing Student award and tutored English and Business courses. He retired as a Sergeant after twenty-five years with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department, a job he took only because the Knicks never had the wisdom to hire him as coach and general manager.
