my name is john thompson and iam 19. i live in a small town in middle-of-nowhere kentucky. i started writing september 13th, 2001 (yes, two days after 9/11), but then after about a month or sooner i quit. not until february of 2002 did i begin to write again, after my mother found some of my poetry stored away. she told me i should write more because i had talentabut if you ask her now, shead probably say she regrets it after reading my 1000th poem! i try to be original in style and writing but also easy to understandanot more in the picture quality (because when your mind explores obstacles itas fun), but more the words. i like to be different (or at least i try anyhow). i like e e cummings, carl sandburg, anne sexton, and emily dickinsonamyself, i believe those are some of the best writersaall different and unique in themselves. i, one day, would like to be like them. they, along with my mother and grandmother and teachers (rich and webb mainly), are my inspirations. i hope this is enoughanow read my poems! -smile-
