A car crashes head-on into a motorcycle. Suddenly, the lives of the mother and children from the station wagon and the lone motorcycle driver are meshed together at the hospital where they are taken. As they recover, the threads of their lives become entwined with those who care for them. As he tries to awaken from unconsciousness, RL is faced with a terror he never thought possible. He cannot wake up. He feels pain, but he is totally paralyzed and he cannot even call out or scream. No one seems to know or notice, until he realizes the nurse does know. RL is totally defenseless.
