Notes on the Caucasus (1883)

The unnamed lead character is in the biggest crisis of his life. He is forced to walk the line between his childlike views of true love and uninhibited happiness, and the harsh adult world he’s thrown into as a college student in a small town. When the love of his life, Stephanie, becomes sick with an undiagnosed symptom, he sinks into a depression that leaves him unaware of time and careless in his decisions. The tragedy is shown not in death, but in having to live the life given to the characters.
