Anne is a seemingly average girl who lives at an unpleasant place called Pleasant Valley Orphanage, plagued by nightmares of her early childhood. One day, Anne runs away from the terrible orphanage and sails off in a canoe. Finally, Anne finds a mysterious and elusive island that she hadnat heard of before, Kacachura. Anne learns about her past and meets many strange Kacachurians, like Alene, her long-lost sister, Glurk and Glork, two crazy lymphors (creatures unique to Kacachura), Anneiko, a talking lizard, and Maurice, a young soldier in the Kacachurian army. Anne hears the mystical legend of the Magic Stone, which is said to grant one wish to whomever finds it. Feeling destined to find it, Anne sets out on a dangerous quest. She discovers the many secrets of her past and learns for herself what she cannot be told.
