Class of Fifty-Four, Yale University: 1854-1896 (1896)

Charles H Leeds

A group of highly advanced creatures who resemble non-human Earth animals establish themselves on Earth with the objective of ending humansa mistreatment, exploitation, and killing of animals. Initially, they abduct millions of mistreated animals to send back to their planet in spaceships, but they make a mistake and abduct a well-cared-for dog from a family, which tracks it down via its microchip. They return the dog and become friends with the family. Meanwhile, they become connected with the international head of PETA. The leaders of the animals have a technique of inhabiting and animating human corpses so that they appear human. They reveal themselves as aliens and demand an end to the killing of animals. This results in major economic upheaval and a violent backlash, which results in the killing of the head of PETA and many of the extraterrestrial animals, but with the help of the dog-loving family they have befriended they prevail.
