Racing Calendars: 1868, 1869 (1901)

Lainie Meadows is a writer who suffers from bipolar disorder. She has spent the last year in an emotional upheaval that has stripped her of self-confidence and trust. She is embarrassed by her disorder and chooses a life of seclusion where she can better control her conflicting emotions. Trish Lewis is Lainieas younger sister and her best friend. She helps Lainie overcome her paranoia by pushing her back into the world and making her feel again. She helps her sister rediscover the joy in life after a chance encounter at a bowling alley brings Lainie face-to-face with her future. Rusty Alberts is the chance encounter. He becomes smitten with Lainie and is confused by her rebuffs. He doesnat give up on her or her moods, and when he secretly discovers her disorder, he is even more determined to offer her a life of normalcy.
