Some Ancient Melodies: And Other Experiments (1882)

This book centers around two young girls and all of the drama that is going on in their lives. Tricia is being abused by her husband who had dreams of making it to the NBA. His dreams fell short when he was shot in the leg. Out of disappointment, he turned to drugs and changed. Tricia loves him and thinks that if she loves him harder, she can turn him back into the husband and father he once was. Felicia has two kids by a man she thought would love her forever. During this time she was dealing with the grief of her father being gunned down in a bank robbery. Her mother decides to show after years of being estranged. The girls go through rough times: a death, reconciliation, abuse, love, hurt, and a fatal hostage situation.
