Lenny Velez was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on April 3, 1987. His life began very unstructured with the death of his mother and his two younger siblings. He later moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, with his grandmother and older brother. His passion for writing became visible when he began to reflect on his past. His life became a whirlwind of emotions and from the entire struggle emerged a poet. His work began to tell a story. His inspiration came from within from everyday experiences. Many of his poems relay the message of loss, love and the battle for life, all of which he has been a part. With this book, he hopes to touch the lives of those who sit in the shadow waiting for someone to notice them and let them know they are not alone, or even just allow someone to realize that life is about being a free individual. His pain, his joy, and his life are all poured into this collection of poems, making this one of his most intimate journeys yet.
