Born December 17, 1979, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lionel Bailey, Jr. (a.k.a. Elem3nt) was the youngest of two children blessed to be given to Lionel Bailey Sr. of Edgard, Louisiana, and Linda W. Bailey of Gramercy, Louisiana. Growing up in the country town of Edgard, he played football, baseball, participated in track and was in the band. He knew he always had creative talent in his blood. He started taking a couple of art classes in elementary and in high school, where that talent became more apparent. In his senior year at West St. John High School, while homesick, he started drawing some pictures of Greek mythology, and in the middle of doing so, his mind kept wandering more and more until finally he wrote all of his thoughts out on paper. He likes to think it was his English teacher, Mrs. Brenda Mitchell, who fine-tuned his literary skills from your traditional aroses are reda poems to what he has been able to write thus far. And his first poem was written, and Lionel the poet, a.k.a. Elem3nt, was created. Elem3nt has been writing for different facets of his life; he has written for friends, churches, schools, and for just random fun. It wasnat until one day when he wrote his first sentimental poem to his grandfather that he realized what he can do. ~Lionel, a.k.a. Elem3nt
