The petit novella Autumn Love is about love in middle age. Anannya is a married businesswoman with children. Suddenly, she finds herself in love with middle-aged Shashwat. Knowing fully well the futility of their relation, they just cannot rein in themselves and go ahead with the relation with all its trials and tribulations. They prefer to suffer the sweet agony of the relation rather than to abandon it. Autumn Love is shared by both the persona in turn. Each tells the other the anguish and elation being suffered by both; in the process they try in vain to comfort each other. The unfolding embraces despair of convincing passion and trying emotions and even maddening obsession!
