The Barbaric Butterfly is the name I have bestowed upon the dreadful and debilitating disease lupus. Just like a barbarian, lupus and its symptoms are crude and contain a lack of restraint in taste, style, and manner. Readers of The Barbaric Butterfly will experience a roller coaster of emotions and feelings such as fear, joy, pain, love, laughter, rehabilitation, inspiration and strength. Those who will benefit from reading my book include, but are not limited to, lupus sufferers, terminally ill patients, their friends and loved ones, counselors, doctors, and nurses. Lupus has many shades. It can affect people of different races, ethnicities, and ages, both men and women. Not only does it describe in great detail my personal experiences, it also expresses the significance of having a strong will to survive-also how to remain positive and happy while coping with this barbaric disease.
