The Remedy (1915)

Poetry very well may have saved me from myself. It literally pulled me out of a pit created by a broken and disillusioned heart. In writing this book, I was not just black woman by blood. I was black woman in mind, body, and spirit. I was my sisters, friends, and cousins. I lived their experiences with them and used poetry as a means to heal. This was written for every woman who has been cheated on, every woman who has been abused, or misused, every woman who has decided that enough is enough and overcame those obstacles.
